A Message From The Superintendent
Centerville Students, Families, and Friends:
As Superintendent of the Centerville Community School District, I want to thank you for being a part of our school family. The mission of our district is that “All students will learn well, become lifelong learners, and contribute positively to society.” We believe that this mission is central to the work that we do every day and strive to provide an education that builds curiosity, a strong work ethic, and a sense of belonging and purpose within society.
Because of our desire to ensure that our students learn well, we provide a high degree of support in our buildings. Our district provides a robust menu of interventions to support student academic needs, including enrichment and extensions to ensure that we are teaching students to go beyond “good enough.” We believe that it is our job to ensure that all students are meeting and exceeding the high expectations set for them by their families, school, and community.
As a district, our goal of making our students into lifelong learners starts with offering courses and activities that spark curiosity and genuine inquiry in our students. We offer a wide variety of courses, clubs, and activities to ensure that all students can find their passion. One major goal of our district is to create an environment in which every one of our high school students can find an extracurricular or co-curricular activity to supplement the learning done in his or her coursework. We believe that building passion for a topic can help to make learning more fun and authentic for our students.
Contributing positively to society is a central tenet of public education. We believe that, through our dedication to developing a strong work ethic and sense of community for our students, we are preparing them to be integral members of their communities as adults. The lessons taught in elementary guidance and secondary advisory periods about work ethic and caring for others are carried directly into the work in our classrooms and are regularly reinforced by the teachers in our classrooms. Our students are being prepared to be the leaders of the next generation.
We are excited that you and your children are members of our school family. Our aim is to help your family accomplish the dreams that you have for your children. Thank you for your trust in us. Please never hesitate to reach out if there is anything we can do to support you and your family.
Sincerely,
Mark Taylor, Superintendent of Schools
