Centerville CSD Parents and Community,
Following numerous conversations with staff, including the district’s administrative team and the Centerville Education Association Leadership Team (CEA) regarding the school calendar and the upcoming Thanksgiving break, many thought it would be a good idea and appropriate to begin this year’s Thanksgiving break on Monday, November 22nd and resume classes on Monday, November 29th.
Currently the school district calendar has the student’s dismissing 1 hour early on Tuesday, November 23rd for Thanksgiving break. Therefore, the change would be no school on Monday, November 22nd and no school on Tuesday, November 23rd.
The November 22nd day would be made up on Monday, March 21st, which was previously a scheduled day off for students and the November 23rd day will be added to the end of the school year calendar to make the last day for students May 25th.
We have faced many challenges that have impacted parents, students, and school staff. The intent of this change is to provide families and school staff the opportunity to reconnect and reenergize during this extended break. By making this adjustment, I am confident that student achievement will not be sacrificed.
This calendar change was approved by the Centerville Board of Education on Monday, November 8th.
